Function Health, a startup focused on lab testing and body scans for early disease detection, announced Wednesday it has acquired mobile healthcare company Getlabs.
Function, which launched in mid-2023, offers a membership-based platform that provides patients with access to more than 160 biomarker lab tests. Membership is $365 annually.Â
Getlabs CEO Claire Hough said in the announcement that the organization believes testing access “is a fundamental piece to owning your health.”
“Together with Function, we can make testing more accessible and seamless, reaching more of the phlebotomists, care teams and providers who make that possible every day,” Hough said. “That mission doesn't change. It scales.”
Function’s testing platform is available at all 2,200 Quest Diagnostics locations across the U.S, according to the announcement. Soon, members will be able to choose whether to visit a location or schedule an at-home or in-office test with Getlabs.Â
The companies did not disclose financial details of the deal.
“Your zip code, your schedule and your life circumstances shouldn't determine what health information you have access to,” said Jonathan Swerdlin, Function CEO and cofounder, in the announcement. “Bringing testing directly to people isn't just convenience—it's access. Function is on a mission to enable 8 billion people to live 100 healthy years, and that is only possible when you scale the ability to make health data accessible to wherever people are.”
The company’s goal is to provide a 360-degree perspective of an individual’s health, Swerdlin said in an interview with Fierce Healthcare in May 2025.
In November, Function announced $298 million in series B funding, which boosted its valuation to $2.5 billion. The company is backed by a slew of venture capital and celebrity investors, including Alumni Ventures, Matt Damon, NFDG, Superhuman’s founder Rahul Vohra and Zac Efron.
