GoodRx announced Wednesday that eligible Wegovy users will be able to access the newly approved higher 7.2-mg dose injection for $399 per month.
The platform is giving eligible self-pay patients flexibility with pricing plans. Alongside the $399 monthly dose, patients can choose to get a two-month supply for $798 or a three-month supply for $1,197. Pricing will be available at pharmacies nationwide through GoodRx.
“Pharmaceutical innovation is moving quickly to meet the evolving needs of patients, and access has to keep pace,” said Wendy Barnes, GoodRx president and CEO, in the announcement. “Wegovy HD is a strong example of how manufacturers are expanding options to support patients at different stages of treatment. GoodRx is proud to help translate that innovation into real-world access, connecting patients to the FDA-approved therapies and dosing they need with clear, predictable pricing.”
Eligibility can be determined through the company’s GoodRx for Weight Loss platform.
The announcement comes weeks after Novo Nordisk rolled out a multi-month subscription plan for self-pay patients on lower doses of both the injectable and pill versions of the drug through various telehealth providers.
The 7.2-mg higher dose will be added to Novo’s program at a later date, according to the March 31 press release. The FDA approved the dose March 19.
GoodRx is also one of the telehealth providers that is offering Eli Lilly’s oral GLP-1 drug Foundayo, which launched across the U.S. last week.
The developments come as the two companies are in intense competition in the GLP-1 space. While Novo was first to market with both injectable Wegovy and its Wegovy pill, the company has subsequently ceded its superior obesity market share in the U.S. to Lilly, Fierce Pharma reports.
