Cigna Healthcare has unveiled Clearity, a new, copayment-only health plan designed to promote transparency and predictability.
The new plan leans on Cigna's in-house suite of artificial intelligence tools to make it easier for enrollees to make decisions for their care by arming them with critical information such as upfront pricing and verified patient reviews within a simple digital experience.
The plan features a tiered copay model that does away with deductibles and coinsurance, Cigna said. Employers that select Clearity as an option can choose from five different packages with different cost-sharing options that don't require narrowing networks or restricting access.
Each package includes four in-network tiers and one out-of-network tier, according to the announcement.
Members in the plan can tap into Cigna's AI assistant, which offers clear and personalized answers to key questions about benefits, coverage and costs. For members who already use the tech, Cigna said they report an easier time finding providers and understanding their benefits.
Clearity is also built on Cigna's Open Access Network, which makes it easier to maintain continuity of care for patients at employers that make the switch, Cigna said.
The insurer added that the plan was created in response to both customer and market expectations around greater transparency and improved access.
“By combining our latest AI technology with simplified, transparent costs, we are helping employers offer innovative solutions that meet the diverse needs of their workforce,” said Eva Borden, chief product officer of Cigna Healthcare’s U.S. employer business, in the announcement.
"Clearity by Cigna Healthcare is more than a health plan—it’s a simpler, more predictable way for customers to get the health care they need," she said.
