Talkspace inked a partnership with Amazon Pharmacy to streamline psychiatric medication fulfillment and home delivery for its members.
It marks the first time a virtual behavioral health solution has integrated with Amazon Pharmacy, the companies said.
Psychiatric patients of Talkspace can now have their medications fulfilled through Amazon Pharmacy and delivered to their homes for seamless medication management. Talkspace and Amazon Pharmacy tout the partnership will improve medication adherence for Talkspace members.
The companies aim to do so through lower costs and greater accessibility of psychiatric medications.
Amazon Pharmacy promises the same ease for the consumer pharmacy experience as it does for non-healthcare-related consumer products. Medications can typically be delivered same-day or next-day after they are ordered by a provider, and a pharmacist is on-call 24/7. Patients can also enable notifications about medication refills and auto-delivery of medications.
Many common medications that Talkspace prescribes are part of Amazon Pharmacy’s cost-saving subscription program, RxPass, at a $5 flat cost per month for all eligible prescriptions. Amazon Pharmacy also offers exclusive savings for Prime members on medications and automatically applies manufacturer coupons, the companies said.
“This partnership builds on our successful collaboration with Amazon’s Health Benefits Connector last year and represents another way consumers can access the care they need,” Jon Cohen, M.D., CEO of Talkspace, said in a release. “Psychiatric medication is most effective when paired with therapy, and this integration with Amazon Pharmacy allows us to deliver truly comprehensive care—from diagnosis to ongoing treatment—all in one streamlined experience.”
Talkspace joined Amazon's health conditions program last year which makes it easier for consumers to determine if they have access to Talkspace’s text-based and telehealth mental health services.
With the Amazon Health Benefits Connector program, customers can enroll and schedule a telehealth appointment within one to five days. Talkspace offers therapy for individuals, teens and couples. Its website touts that it pioneered the asynchronous chat-based therapy model.
More than 140 million Americans, including Medicare patients, have access to Talkspace through their health insurance plans, employee assistance programs, the company's partnerships with leading healthcare companies or as a free benefit through their employer, school or government agency.
Talkspace claims that most insured members have a $0 copay, and others have an average copay cost of $15 per session.
“We’re committed to making it easier for people to get the medications they need—at a price they can afford and when they need them,” Tanvi Patel, Vice President and General Manager of Amazon Pharmacy, said in a statement. “Talkspace is an established leader in mental health care, and we’re pleased to work together to provide a seamless, digital-first experience that helps customers more easily manage both their care and prescriptions from start to finish.”
Talkspace has churned a profit over the last several quarters due to the increased revenue from its payer segment. The company has increasingly focused on gaining contracts in the payer market to scale the business. Meanwhile, its direct-to-consumer business has declined; in Q1 2025, payer revenue increased by 33% year-over-year, while direct-to-consumer revenue declined 32% from the same period last year.
