Fitness wearable Whoop adds on-demand clinician access, EHR syncing

Fitness wearable company Whoop rolled out several new health and artificial intelligence features.

Beginning this summer, Whoop members will be able to directly connect with clinicians through the application, including live, on-demand video consultations. Moreover, members will be able to sync electronic health records (EHRs). The company says these updates will allow users to “gain a deeper understanding” of how medications, conditions and procedures can impact performance.

Alongside these health updates, Whoop also announced the launch of two new AI-driven features. The “My Memory” feature allows users to provide context to manage personalized coaching, while the “Proactive Check Ins” feature provides personalized recommendations.

Members can now log life events, behaviors and supplements in the platform’s journal feature, according to the announcement.

Launched in 2012, the Boston-based company also plans to expand through improvements to its heart rate algorithm, workout auto-detection, the addition of strength trainer trends and an enhanced activity tracking experience.

“As Whoop continues to evolve, the focus remains clear: delivering a deeply personalized, highly accurate, and increasingly actionable health experience,” the company said. “By combining AI, continuous data, and clinical insight, Whoop is redefining what it means to understand and improve human performance.”

The company announced a $575 million series G funding announcement in late March, valuing it at $10.1 billion valuation, Fierce Biotech reports.
